Hunslet 3889 was the penultimate loco produced by Hunslet for the UK standard gauge and was one of the last survivors of industrial working steam in service. The loco was built in 1962 for the National Coal Board and was delivered to Nailstone Colliery in Leicestershire with underfeed stoker and gas producer system although the systems fell out of use. The loco retained the later style of chimney. Notice has been taken of the details which set these later industrial service locos and tooling provision will be made for these. The locomotive was saved by its acquisition by NCB Cadley Hill Colliery’s manager with the loco remaining at Cadley Hill in Leicestershire until the end of steam there in 1981.
The model will be produced with the variations noted in its yellow livery with ‘wasp’ stripes to the bunker end. The exclusive model will only be a run of 200 models with numbered certificate and reservations should be placed via this page on DJModels website. We will be updating readers with progress on the model and any delivery dates will be confirmed as it progresses, customers who have reserved a model will be contacted when it’s ready to be despatched to confirm the order and arrange payment.
The model is priced at £99.95 plus postage and packaging.

Limited Edition of 200 models
Hayward’s Trains is proud to announce it has commissioned a limited edition OO gauge model of Hunslet Austerity “Wilbert”, as preserved on the Dean Forest Railway.
Built in 1953, 3806 worked as a shunter at a Staffordshire colliery, being purchased for preservation by the DFR in 1976. Originally named “G.B. Keeling” in 1981, 3806 was then named after Reverend Wilbert Awdry – the president of the railway at the time and author of the popular Railway Series books – on September 13 1987.
The model will be supplied DCC ready, and is a limited run of just 200 models, each supplied with a uniquely numbered certificate. The models will be available exclusively for mail order through the Dean Forest Railway shop, and will ship worldwide.
Expressions of interest should be sent to firstname.lastname@example.org. When pre-orders are ready to be taken, you will be contacted first with these details before they open to the public.
Each model will cost £100 plus P&P; the DFR shall be receiving a minimum donation of £10 per loco sold. The model is due to be released later this year – updates, when available, shall be available via the DFR, RMWeb and direct from Hayward’s Trains upon request.
