Presentations and talks

For many years I have given talks to societies and model railway clubs on model choice, design, manufacture and the general condition of the Model Railway market place.

A fully interactive Q & A session on any model railway related subject is encouraged during talks and these can last up to 2 hours.

I am available to book for those that would wish to have a visit from me, so please get in touch.

    Good afternoon Dave,

I have been organising the north east area group (NEAG) of the 2mm Scale Association for the past 32 years. As a group we are just simply members of the Association living within a reasonable catchment area in the north of England but our number are always typically interested in good quality products that fit within the scope of railway modelling at 2mm = 1 foot or 1/152. Naturally we use some items from the ‘N’ manufacturers of whatever brand, so long as they fit the individual taste.

Your new venture is a particularly interesting one from a 2mm modeller’s perspective with some very nice looking projects on the horizon. With that in mind and seeing your offer to talk to groups I wonder if you could let me know what expenditure might be involved for you to travel to the Chester le Street area of County Durham. If it were within our means to fund your trip then perhaps we could discuss this further. The NEAG meets once every two months or so on a Saturday afternoon in a local church hall and we can generally have around 20 – 30 people, sometimes less and we normally invite one of our group to discuss/demonstrate how he/she tackled a particular project. We round off with an afternoon tea which is probably a little bit more than just tea (I’m sure some our group just come along for the food….!)

Please let me know if you might be interested in coming to talk to the NEAG about DJ Models and 2mm modelling in general.

Best wishes with DJ Models in any event.

        Dave,

Thanks for your reply. Following dates for your consideration:-

        9/8/14 – 6/9/14 – 18/10/14 – 13/12/14

These are provisional dates assuming the church hall is available. The September date is a possibility if you can’t make the August one. I will be in touch again once I have confirmed the hall availability but thought you’d best have at least an idea of our timings.

        Regards

    Hi Dave,

Have you managed to arrange a date to go and talk to Mick Simpson’s 2mm North East Area Group yet? I organise a similar area group in the Lancs & Yorks area and we’d probably travel up to Bournmoor to swell the numbers further.

    Regards

      Hi Edward,

I’ve suggested the 18th October and await Micks reply.
you guys might want to contact the NE N gauge group so see if they want to visit to swell numbers further?
      cheers

    Dave,

On behalf of the north east area group of the 2mm Scale Association (and the NE and borders group of the EM Gauge Society) thank you very much for an interesting and entertaining afternoon. I know we all said it this afternoon but just for the record I think it’s fair to say we all enjoyed your presentation and wish you the very best with DJ Models. Of course we all have a vested interest and are all looking forward to some really cracking models. (no pressure…!)

Seriously, you obviously know the business and are well placed to deliver the kind of models and back up service you outlined today.

    All the best.

      Hi Mick,
Thanks for the mail and sorry for the very late reply,

It was great fun and I enjoyed it a lot. Anytime you want to be droned at for another 2 1/2 hours+ just ask.
Always happy to do these things for society’s and groups.
Say hi to the guys for me please.
      cheers
      Dave
